Azalea Lodge sits inside the 48-acre Mead Botanical Garden in Winter Park, just minutes from Park Avenue. The vibe is vintage Florida, oak canopies, garden paths, and a 2,400 square foot lodge with an outdoor terrace overlooking Alice’s Pond. Couples can choose from four outdoor ceremony settings inside the garden: the Historic Little Amphitheater, Legacy Garden, Butterfly Garden, and Grove Courtyard.
I am DJ Chuck Johnson, and I have performed at Azalea Lodge many times. A garden venue with multiple ceremony spots and a separate reception lodge calls for a DJ who already knows the property, where to load in, how each ceremony spot sounds, and how the lodge fills with music when the dance floor is hot.

The Layout, Spaces, and Sound at Azalea Lodge
The Lodge holds up to 175 guests across a foyer, a meeting space, and a main hall, plus an outdoor terrace overlooking Alice’s Pond. The four outdoor ceremony locations inside Mead Botanical Garden each have their own personality. The Little Amphitheater has a built-in tiered seating feel, Legacy Garden and Butterfly Garden are more intimate plantings, and Grove Courtyard sits in the shade of the oaks.
Garden ceremonies sit far enough from the Lodge that I run a separate, battery-powered ceremony rig at whichever spot you choose, no extension cords across the lawns. Inside the Lodge, the room responds well to a balanced sound design that fills the main hall without overwhelming the foyer or the terrace doors. I am in place at least 60 minutes before your start time, sound checked and ready before guests arrive.

What I Bring to an Azalea Lodge Wedding
I personally DJ and MC every wedding I take. No subcontracting, no substitutes. At Azalea Lodge, a typical day means a garden ceremony at the Amphitheater or one of the smaller garden spots, cocktail hour out on the terrace overlooking Alice’s Pond, then a full reception inside the Lodge with grand entrance, toasts, dinner sets, and a packed dance floor.
The Lodge interior takes uplighting beautifully. Color washes along the walls and through the main hall transform the room after sunset. Couples can read more on my uplighting page. A digital open-air photobooth fits naturally near the foyer or in the main hall, and guests get their photos sent straight to their phone or email. Details are on my photobooth page.
For couples who want a final moment that surprises everyone, I also offer my Virtual Fireworks Experience, which is included with my packages and works beautifully inside the Lodge as a closing moment. Every Azalea Lodge wedding I do is mapped through my Wedding Reception Blueprint planning process, so each beat of the night is intentional and tied to your story before load-in.

Frequently Asked Questions About an Azalea Lodge Wedding DJ
How much does a wedding DJ cost at Azalea Lodge?
My pricing is the same at every Central Florida venue. At Azalea Lodge at Mead Botanical Garden, my transparent pricing applies. No venue markups, no hidden fees. Exact package details are on my pricing page.
Have you DJed at Azalea Lodge before?
Yes. I have performed at Azalea Lodge many times and know the property well, including the four outdoor ceremony settings inside Mead Botanical Garden and the Lodge interior. That experience makes the day move smoothly between spaces.
What equipment do you bring to an Azalea Lodge wedding?
I bring professional speakers sized to the Lodge and your guest count, a wireless mic for ceremony and toasts, my DJ mixer, and a separate battery-powered ceremony rig for whichever outdoor garden spot you choose. Backup gear is part of every package, so the music never stops.
Can I submit song requests and a do-not-play list?
Yes. I share an online planning form before your wedding where you build your must-play list, your do-not-play list, and the moments that matter. On the day, I read the room and take live requests when it makes sense, while honoring the lines you set.
Do you provide ceremony sound for the outdoor garden ceremony spots?
Yes. Ceremony sound is included in every package. I set up a separate, battery-powered system at the Amphitheater, Legacy Garden, Butterfly Garden, or Grove Courtyard, including a wireless lavalier mic for the officiant and processional and recessional music cued the way you want.
What time will you arrive on the wedding day?
I arrive at least 60 minutes before your start time. That gives me a full setup window for both the garden ceremony spot and the Lodge interior, plus a sound check before any guests arrive.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. I carry two million dollars in liability insurance and provide a certificate of insurance to Mead Botanical Garden and Events by Dubsdread whenever it is requested. Most venues require it, and I take care of that step for you.
